“I was floundering...”
Christine Flynn spent 31 years working in accounting and finance.
When her company downsized, her position was eliminated.
Christine found herself with no job, unsure of what to do next.
She didn’t want to retire. Though she didn’t think companies would hire her based on her age.
Over the next four years, she floundered. She had this nagging feeling she should be doingmore,yet she couldn’t figure out what that was.
As she says:
“I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I couldn’t figure it out.
I thought, “Okay, God if you have something in mind for me, you will have to knock me over the head. And I got that knock with [Rhonda].”
“I didn’t think I needed Fearless Living”
Christine went to a weekend health and yoga retreat at Kripalu in Massachusetts. There, she heard of a talk Rhonda Britten was giving on Fearless Living.
Christine didn’t think she needed Fearless Living. She had been through a lot in her life and didn’t think fear was an issue. But the manager at Kripalu told her, “Everyone can benefit from Fearless Living”, so she tried it.
During Rhonda’s talk, Christine had her mind blown several. For example, Christine had always been into personal development, yet all those books and courses never brought her the results she hoped for.
During the talk, Christine learned why that was. She realized we all have “blind spots” that keep us from seeing what keeps us stuck.
This was a huge relief for Christine. She started to understand her real problems were hidden outside her awareness. And she started to look for ways to address them.
“Several things Rhonda said were mind-blowing... It helped me see there is more I haven’t seen yet.”
“I felt a weight had been lifted”
Christine felt like she had more to learn from Rhonda. And shortly after the talk, she joined The Fearless Living Training Program(FLTP,) Rhonda’s course for mastering fear.
One of the big breakthroughs Christine had was learning her Wheel of Fear.
This helped Christine see how fears had secretly been running her life for years.
For example, Christine had always been a workaholic. She put her job and the needs of others first and never had time for herself.
She realized she did this because she had a deep-rooted fear of being seen as “incompetent.” So she worked a ton and put others first to avoid ever being seen as “incompetent.”
Another struggle she had was procrastination. Christine used to think something was wrong with her because she would procrastinate on simple projects. Yet she realized her procrastination was caused by her fear of being seen as incompetent.
“When I learned my Wheel of Fear, it felt like a weight had been lifted. It was so eye-opening to understand my core trigger that had been running the show for my whole life.
It was like, “Oh my gosh, this makes sense”. It was such a relief.”
“I began to show up differently...”
Christine then learned to stop letting fear control her by using the Wheel of Freedom.
The Wheel of Freedom allows Christine to connect with her true self. And Christine learned that for her, the fastest way to do that was through self-compassion.
Christine was always good at having compassion for others. Yet she rarely had it for herself.
Instead, she had always been hard on herself. She beat herself up all the time for not doing “enough.” And it led her to feel burnt out, exhausted, and bad about herself.
However, once she learned to have compassion for herself, all that turned around. She stopped wearing herself out and began to look after herself.
She became more joyful and energized. She started having more fun. And she even began to have a better relationship with her daughter.
“Now self-care just flows. It’s part of who I am...
I’m able to spend time with my daughter and son-in-law. I structure my time to get what I want done... and I give myself time to play.”
“I stopped procrastinating...”
Through The Fearless Living Training Program, Christine learned tons of tools to help her recognize when fear was secretly controlling her, and then move away from it and into a state of freedom.
One of the most helpful tools for her was the RISK formula.
By following this formula, she stopped beating herself up. She stopped procrastinating. And when family members upset her, she was able to let that anger go and have better relationships with them.
“I was able to stop beating myself up entirely...
Procrastination isn’t a [problem] for me anymore. My time management and productivity have skyrocketed... I’m more open and able to receive.”
“I live with passion and purpose...”
Breaking free from fear allowed Christine to get in touch with who she was and what she wanted.
She loved the material inside Fearless Living so much she decided to help others master it. So she joined Rhonda’s Life Coaching Certification Program and became a Certified Fearless Living Coach. Then she went on to become an Advanced Certified Fearless Living Trainer.
She’s now spent the past 6 years working as a Life Coach. And she’s built a strong client base and successful practice through referrals alone.
Now she helps others who struggle with the same challenges she’s overcome --including procrastination, not knowing what you want to do with your life, and more.
