Yikes! For those of you who don't know I am now training for the Los Angeles Marathon. On March 19, 2006 I will, cross your fingers, be running 26.2 miles.
I never thought of running a marathon before. In fact, never considered myself a runner until my healthy lifestyle started to kick in and I needed a big challenge, a huge challenge for my body and my spirit. I saw the RUN A MARATHON sign and thought, Could I do that?
And that simple question has turned into a running program that includes long runs on Sunday and shorter runs during the week. Last Sunday, are you sitting down, I ran 14 miles. I KNOW!!!! I can't believe it either. And now during the week I can run, without worrying about it or fretting about it, three to four miles without a care.
I am as shocked as anyone because just three months ago I could barely run a mile. Training for a marathon has forced me to face fears I didn't even know I had. And I love it. Who knew that I had an inner athelete just waiting to get out...
So tomorrow morning, KNBC, the local NBC Station in Los Angeles is going to follow me, with a camera, as I run my four miles. YIKES! They plan on doing several pieces about me as a train for the marathon. Yes, it means I will be sweating on camera as well as huffing and puffing.
I will let you know when it airs (if they tell me beforehand).
Stay tuned for more news on the upcoming marathon...and oh wait, I forgot to tell you the most exciting news...I FINISHED MY BOOK...Do I Look Fat in This? Get Over Your Body and On With Your Life.
